How the checker works

We fetch four things from your site — robots.txt, llms.txt, your homepage and your sitemap — and score what AI answer engines actually see:

  • AI crawler access (40 pts) — whether GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended and Bingbot are allowed to read your site. A blocked crawler means that engine can never cite you.
  • Structured data (25 pts) — JSON-LD entity and FAQ/HowTo markup, the raw material AI engines quote from.
  • Content signals (15 pts) — title, meta description and headings that state plainly what you do.
  • AI content guidance (10 pts) — an llms.txt file pointing engines at your best pages.
  • Discoverability (10 pts) — an XML sitemap for coverage.
